Celebrating Innovative Educators at Crestwood Elementary

March 8, 2024

Today, we celebrate the creativity of Hannah Cordes and Laura Farhatt from Crestwood Elementary School. These educators recently took the initiative to request STEM materials and board games for their classrooms, aiming to enrich their students' learning experiences.

Ms. Cordes and Mrs. Farhatt's classrooms will now have access to a variety of resources that encourage creativity, collaboration, and practical application of knowledge. These materials are not just tools for learning; they also foster essential skills such as taking turns, problem-solving, and emotional development.

The introduction of STEM materials provides students with alternative ways to demonstrate their understanding of various topics beyond traditional paper-and-pencil methods. By integrating these diverse materials and games, students can engage with mathematical concepts in a more dynamic and enjoyable way, moving away from conventional worksheets and screen-based learning. This hands-on approach is expected to boost their enthusiasm and passion for learning.

On Wednesday, March 6th, Foundation Board members had the pleasure of delivering these materials to Crestwood Elementary. Following the delivery, we joined Ms. Cordes and Mrs. Farhatt’s 3rd-grade students in playing various educational games, witnessing firsthand the excitement and engagement these new resources brought to the classroom.

Congratulations to Hannah Cordes and Laura Farhatt for their innovative approach to education! Their efforts are a testament to the positive impact that dedicated teachers can have on their students’ learning experiences.
